Spring in Ancient Peru and Machu Picchu

Dear Artists and Travelers,

This will be an exceptional eleven day touring workshop throughout Cusco, Lima, and Machu Picchu, Peru. We will be touring through the region of Cusco, the oldest continuously inhabited city in the western hemisphere, including nearby ruins of Kenko, Puca-Pucara, Tambomachay, and the Sacsayhuaman fortress. The entire city of Cusco is on the World Heritage Site...this is a place of ancient and profound places of western history. We will also take an overnight journey to Machu Picchu; hidden until Hiram Bingham of Yale University rediscovered the site in 1911. This is where the Inca “Virgins of the Sun” took refuge from the Spanish conquistadors.

We will be staying two nights at the first class Sonesta Posada del Inca Hotel in Lima. Lima is referred to as the “City of Kings’.  Plazas, colonial sites, cathedrals and palaces fill this wonderful city...we are then off to the magical city of Cusco for the majority of our stay. We will stay five nights in Cusco at the centrally located TerraAndina Hotel; where wandering the streets and marketplaces will let you fall under the spell of this beautiful and ancient city. We will have an overnight excursion to Machu Picchu with a wonderous train ride through the sacred valley of Urubamba to the “Lost City of the Incas”.  Perched 8,200 feet above the valley, Machu Picchu stays hidden and beautjful; truly one of the “sites of the world”. We then return to Cusco for another day of leisure to enjoy the city and maybe find some last minute gifts of Peruvian handicrafts or jewelry.

Sparky will be painting in oil and working on location throughout the tour. You will be able to watch and ask questions about painting techniques all the while enjoying the richness and beauty of Cusco and Peru. A supply list of painting and travel material will be mailed to you before we depart.

• Roundtrip transfers airport to hotels
• Total price is $2,395 per person...double occupancy
• A $300 non-refundable deposit is due to reserve a space
• Balance of $2095 is due on February 15th, 2009
