ARTIST’S STATEMENT Sparky’s induction into the Who’s Who of American Art, his recognition as a National Artist of Portugal, and nine One-Man Show (the most recent ones in Europe) are indications of his stellar art career. His uniquely rich and bountiful still-lifes are purchased by art patrons throughout the United States and Europe. His ability to translate what we see in nature onto canvases large and small has resonated with corporate and private collectors since he graduated from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, Ca. in 1986. In his words, “Art needs to do two things: it must communicate... and it must raise the human consciousness.” His reputation as a fine artist and his ability to communicate the subtleties of fine art continues to sell out his international workshop program, which will travel to Ancient Peru and Machu Picchu in 2009. The sale of Cottonwood Art Academy in Colorado Springs, the art school he founded in 1997, has allowed him to concentrate all of his considerable talents on painting and his workshop program. He is currently painting in Sesimbra, Cascais, Madeira, and the coastal villages of southern Portugal. |
