Sparky’s induction into the Who’s Who of American Art, his recognition as a National Artist of Portugal, and eleven One-Man Shows in Europe and America are indications of his stellar art career.
Lebold’s oil paintings are inspired by the beauty he experienced living in Europe and traveling throughout the world. Lebold is like an enigma although he aided the development and growth of a stalled art community in the mid- 1990’s in Colorado Springs by founding the Cottonwood Art Academy. Since the founding of the Cottonwood Art Academy he has enjoyed a wonderful career nationally and internationally…listed as one of the top 50 landscape painters in America by “The Artist’s Magazine”…even being dubbed as “Picasso Americano” in Portugal where he has lived for the past decade.
His ability to translated what we see in nature onto canvases large and small has resonated with corporated and private collectors since he graduated from Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, CA in 1986. LeBold’s work is full of emotion, passion, and sensuality, reflecting his desire to communicate feelings and experience awareness for the beauty we sometimes overlook. Like the man, his images hold one’s attention and leave an imprint that rarely fades.
